Last September 2015, I went to The Sisters of Mary Boystown and gave the choir a visit matapos kong mapanuod ang isang rehearsal video nila sa Facebook. And I’m glad I followed my heart to visit and get to know them in person somehow.

The Sisters of Mary Schools – Philippines was founded by Father Aloysius Schwartz in 1986. I learned about Fr. Al from my ex-boyfriend, Joel. He graduated in high school here. There are times na bumibisita pa rin ako sa school na ito where Fr. Al was buried kahit hindi na kami ni Joel. I do this to pray and talk to him. When Joel introduced me to the life of Fr. Al, I had this certain feeling to connect with him. Fr. Al showed a life of humility na nakita ko kay Joel. And I wanted to do the same. And I was inspired sa mga naging contribution ni Fr. Al para sa mga mahihirap dito sa ating bansa.

After kong makapagpaalam at makakuha ng go-signal sa school to visit the choir, wala akong sinayang na oras at dali-dali akong nag-travel.

Pagdating ko sa vicinity ng school, sinalubong ako ni Sir Artchie. Siya yung in-charge sa welfare ng mga members ng choir kapag may mga rehearsals sila at performances sa iba’t ibang lugar. Pinatawag niya yung mga bata and instructed to go inside the rehearsal room para maipakilala niya ako sa mga members. I couldn’t help myself from remembering about Joel and yes, it made my eyes teary a little. *emote*

Nung kumpleto na yung mga bata sa rehearsal room, Sir Artchie talked to them and said na I was there para makilala ko silang lahat in person. I could see all the smiles from these kids’ faces. Nakakatuwa silang tingnan kasi lahat sila naka-smile. Itong mga batang ito, lahat sila ay mga poorest of the poor pero pinapag-aral at inaalagaan sila ng school na ito dahil these kids have bright minds. And in the future, these kids will be the leaders of our nation and give their contributions to the betterment of our country. Kahit na it’s been years since huli kong nakausap at nakasama si Joel, I know that he is doing his part to help the needy just like how Fr. Al spent his life.

So I introduced myself to the choir and the reason I was there. Gusto ko pa sana magkwento nang magkwento pero medyo pagabi na kasi when I arrived at alam kong may exams pa yung mga bata kinabukasan.

The Sisters of Mary Boystown Choir graced me with 5 songs at ang sarap sa feeling na nandon ka mismo sa tabi nila habang nagpe-perform sila. I would like to share with you their impromptu performances… for me (naks!).  I would like to thank Sister Lucy, Ma’am Chona, Sir Artchie, Anthony, and of course, sa buong choir who made my visit possible and a memorable one. I promised to the kids na bibisitahin ko sila ulit. And next time, we’ll have a great time altogether. I also promised Sir Artchie na tutulungan ko sila sa pag-market ng choir nila. So if you want these kids to perform in your events, don’t hesitate to contact me and I will help you coordinate with them.

I know you will love this choir as I do. Enjoy watching!
