Lancaster New City got my attention again as my friends invited me to go and watch the Christmas light show that is happening every weekend malapit sa kanilang Experience Center.

I love everything about Christmas and the Holiday Season. At the age of 32, I never failed to say hello to the kid in me from time to time. I believe this is one of the best ways to relieve one’s self from stress in order to live longer.

Prior to receiving my friends’ invitation, I was able to see one evening the lanterns na naka-display sa mga light posts ng Lancaster New City. Pero mabilisan ko lang nakita ang mga iyon dahil doon lang kami dumaan ng kaibigan kong mekaniko noong nasiraan ako ng radiator fan sa car somewhere along Malabon. I think that time, wala pa ang light show nila. But I was really impressed with the Christmas lanterns na nakita ko. Ang sosyal lang ng peg! Dinaig pa nga yung mga light decors na nakikita ko rito sa lunsod namin and in other municipalities.

My friends and I arrived at Lancaster New City around 6:00 PM. The light show starts at the same time pero we decided to have dinner first sa Lady Christine’s Baby Back Ribs. I’m not a food critique pero I highly recommend that you try their baby back ribs. Sobrang winner sa sarap! Anyway, there’s a light show every 30 minutes from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM kaya we had time pa to make lamon. We intended to watch at 8:00 PM kasi syempre, magchi-chikahan pa kami while eating.

It has really been a while since I last watched a Christmas light show. It’s 8:00 PM and we were all set! Madilim ang paligid and everybody seemed excited. Then the light show began…

I’ve got to be honest with you, whoever you are reading this. I had mixed emotions while I was watching the light show. I felt both happy and sad. I was happy because the kid in me was happy.  Witnessing this event brought back a lot of good old memories. I remember when I was 8, my grandparents gave us (their apo’s) Nintendo Family computers. It was one of the most memorable Christmas days up to now.

My Lola would always bake our favorite chocolate cake. She would also cook sumptuous meals for all of us. My Lolo, on the other hand, would give us money as Pamasko aside from the material gifts they already gave us. Our whole family would have fun on Christmas Day.

Allow me to share some photos, too.

I also felt sadness because things are different now – now that we have all grown up. Our grandparents are no longer with us. Everything is just not the same anymore. Tulad ng sabi sa The Little Prince na book, adults are more concerned with matters of consequence. At sobrang naka-relate ako rito. As adults, every move and decision that we make is a make-or-break thing. Did you ever wish you were a kid again? Siguro halos lahat tayo na nasa edad na had wished the same thing. Kaya I always see to it that I am still always connected with the 4-year old kid in me.

To Lancaster New City management, THANK YOU. Thank you for making me remember and for making me reconnect with my childhood.

After the 20-minute Christmas light show, my friends and I went to visit the bazaar and the banchetto. There were a lot of good finds and affordable items to purchase. Kaya pwede ka pang humabol sa Holiday Shopping kung hindi mo pa ito nagagawa.
